#24 (January): Participate in one volunteer/non-profit activity each month.

Date Completed:  1/31/2010

We have been saying for a while that we’d like to get more active in our community.  Inevitably, something always came up or our schedules didn’t quite align.  This year, we’ve both committed to at least one volunteer/non-profit activity per month.  Some months, like January, we’ll participate together.  For months with conflicts, we’re on our own, but still accountable to THE LIST.  January’s event was to support the Minneapolis YWCA by volunteering at their indoor triathlon.  We didn’t really prepare all that well with limited sleep the night before, but because we made a commitment to the YWCA – and also to THE LIST – we were going despite being sleepy.  It turned out to be so much fun and we met really nice athletes.  We rang cowbells to cheer on the runners and got a little crazy, in true Cara/Lisa form.  We even ran the final lap to celebrate with one gal Deb who had both knees replaced last August.  We’re hoping to see all our new friends again this year, but next time as participants!  Interesting how we could wake up barely functioning and within hours, be motivated for a tri!  For more info on volunteering, check out www.volunteermatch.com.

So does this count as one item for each of you or 12 items for each of you?

Actually, it's only 1/12 toward each list! We have a lot of work cut out for us this year!
